almost two, Phillip Update

As things in my life have been crazy lately, I admit my blogging has fallen to the wayside and I apologize. As a result of this I have not given a update on Phillip, So I have taken the time to tell you all about what is going on in his little life right now.

Phillip will be two years old on the 29th. This is a hard thing for me to believe. In a sense it feels like forever and in another it has gone by so fast. two years ago he made his appearance in this world weighing in at 7 pounds 14oz and 21.5 inches long. Now He weighs in at 30 pounds and probably 35 inches tall. He was completely dependent on Joel and I for all his needs and now he testing out independence.

Well Phillip still has head full of red hair, though not really strawberry blond and not really rust, it is more more a copper colored. His eyes are still the same bright blue, that light up whenever he is excited.

Phillip Loves to play with trucks and tractors. Joel and I are always amazed at the things he does with them, often imitating real life, dump trucks and forklifts. A special treat for Phillip is to get to go "help" Daddy down at work or feeding the cows. As these jobs involve riding on a forklift or tractor.

Phillip personality is not that much different than when He was born. When he was a baby Joel and I recognized that he was pretty easy going, unless you went against what he thought should be done right now, then his willful streak showed up. That is still true today as it was two years ago. The only thing that has changed is what he thinks should be done, it used to be feeding, now it is not picking up toys etc. Although there is a stubborn streak in him there is a very compassionate side as well. That is often trying to comfort other kids that are crying.

As far as development goes Phillip is a little slower than the average, but not dragging to far behind. His Speech is slow coming. He has a lot of words he can say and a lot he tries to say, but you really have to know the language. He has mastered the "K" sound so a lot of words he says have that sound, trucks sounds like "kruck", cup is "kuk", binkie is "kinkie". He has mastered a few phrases like "what's this" (which sounds like "whas dis") and "it's stuck" (sounds like "es sduck". some of his favorite words he has master are "Bye, Bye", "duck" and "Mama". We have been able to teach him sign language and he has really mastered a lot of signs, which has helped in understanding him. He can say, some that he uses often are please, thank you, all done, Daddy, more, and car.

Even though he can't talk that much, he understands quite a bit. and we can often give him directions to do something and he follows through. For a while we would tell him to take something to the kitchen and he would promptly to the kitchen and put it in the trash can, not matter what it was.

Joel and I know that Phillip is a gift from God. We have been very blessed with Phillip and have truly enjoyed watching him grow. We both look forward to the coming years to see what the Lord does with his Life.
