We had a great Christmas this Year. We had been working really hard on the house so we could have my family over for Christmas breakfast. So by the time Christmas morning came Joel and I were tired. Phillip woke up coughing at 6:30 am (2 hours before his normal waking time) and didn't go back to sleep. So we were all up bright and early. We were able to get breakfast ready and open a few presents by ourselves, before our family showed up.
Phillip was really cute about presents. He didn't seem that interested in it at first and didn't know what to do. When we told him to rip the paper he would look at us with a look that said "is this a trick? I usually get in trouble for ripping things." When he finally got it open he was enthralled with the new toy and had no interest in opening anything else. By the end of the morning he had finally caught on and the last four gifts he was in total open and toss aside mode. Because my family does not exchange gifts with one another, just for Phil, he thought that every gift was for him; so when my Grandma gave me a small gift, Phil thought it was for him and had to help me open it. This behavior continued throughout other family gatherings that happened in the days that followed.
As far as the gifts themselves, Phil and Joel are easy to please. Phil got new tractor, trailer, and tools. Joel got just as much enjoyment out of Phillip's gifts as Phillip did. Joel is really the expert on how to play with toy tractors and equipment in the most realistic way. So he had a lot of fun showing Phil how it was done.
After the gifts were open and the breakfast devoured, Phillip took at nap at 11:30am (2 hours before his normal nap time). The rest of the day was spent in various forms of Holiday Vegetated state. We contemplated going bowling that night, but thought that was too much effort than we wanted to display. Later in the evening some friends stopped by to see the addition, they stayed for a while to have a chat.
A common question we ask as we go back to work and church is, " Did you have a good Christmas?" the Answer would be "Yes, we Did"
