It's inevitable, no matter how laid back you are, no matter how much you flex the rules, or how much you think it won't happen to you, your children will ALL embarass you. Most likly when you least expect it. And they Just LOVE doing it in Church.
We go to a very small church, and Phil & Tom are really the only kids, so if something happens in church, everyone knows it's my kid, there is no blaming on the family in the pew in front of us.
Like a few weeks ago, Phil walked in and pitched his stuffed animal over the pew (during service), but that time the only one who saw this was my friend from high school.
But last week after we finished singing, the worship leader asked "aren't you glad you have Jesus in your life". The church starts their humming, mmhhmm and Amens. Then in the milliseconds of silence after that, Phil speaks up "No", and the whole church chuckles.
That moment I was busy entertaining Tommy in my lap, and did a double take. Then I did a tiny scoot down the pew so I wouldn't get hit by lightning.
Like I said It's inevitable, and it happens when you least expect it.
My daughter started to get a little rambunctious in church and got mad at me when I tried to get her to sit. I picked her up to take her out of the service, and on the way up, she grabbed her sister's shoes...then chucked them across the aisle, as hard as she could at 2 yrs old or so, at the next set of pews. I was pretty mortified. The man who was nearly hit said it'd been a long time since a woman had thrown shoes at him, and was completely good-natured about it.
